What led to the formation of the company?

Our two founders developed the concept for our proprietary software. Their first angel investors were in Dallas and E4D was launched here a little over 20 years ago.

What is the company's mission?

More Freedom to Move Forward. We see this as our mission for our products, our processes, our customers, our employees and our community. We want to help each one go forward in the way that is best for them. We know that one-size doesn’t fit all.

What has allowed the company to succeed?

Since the beginning, E4D has been tenacious. This is why our mission is about More Freedom to Move Forward. This has been our motivation as we have competed with much larger international companies our whole existence. We have a strong culture, extremely diverse and talented team and work very hard to avoid politics and bureaucracy that slows down innovation and progress.

We also drive and measure our performance by key goals and KPI’s. This provides real-time feedback to our progress and allows for course corrections as required.

In which ways has the company been innovative, or led the industry?

E4D was the second company to offer a full chair-side CAD/CAM solution to bring permanent restorations to the dental patient in one office visit. We continue to bring new concepts to the market, including most recently a device that is affordable and pairs with our existing intra-oral scanner that can be used without using radiation to detect caries and cracks.

In addition to the E4D IP products, we added support for the full product life cycle to other customers’ products.  Leveraging our skilled team and resources, we helped bring lifesaving products to market during COVID that reduced and/or eliminated the COVID virus.

What challenges is the company facing at the moment?

Since the pandemic, supply chain issues have been challenging. While it appears to be stabilizing – it’s much less flexible than it was prior to COVID.

Please describe the company's culture and why this culture was adopted.

Our culture is best described by our values.

  • WE LEAVE OUR EGOS AT THE DOOR

    • We know that no single person is responsible for our success. It takes all of us to deliver innovative products.

    • Our team is very diverse in all aspects:  faith, age, experience, culture, education. We have PhD’s and people who likely didn’t graduate from HS. Our team represents more than 16 countries. We think this diversity allows us to be competitive and see products through a global lens.

  • WE ARE AVERSE TO THE STATUS QUO

    • We know that if we stop innovating and improving that’s when we start to die as a company. There is no final destination on the journey of improvement. That means our products, our people, our processes.

    • This mindset allows us to be competitive against much larger companies

  • WE DO WHAT WE SAY EVERY TIME

    • We know that our customers and employees need to count on us, and we strive to be transparent and clear

What is the female to male ratio in this company's workforce?

37% of our workforce are women.

Is there a focus on hiring more women, or supporting and promoting the current women working in the company?

We know that a diverse workforce creates better products, a better culture and we actively work to hire and promote women.

What are some job opportunities that might become available in the near future that local candidates should be aware of?

We are always looking for highly skilled software engineers. In the next quarter we will be looking at hiring: 3D Software Engineer, Image Processing Software Engineer and a Software Test Engineer.
